Support my @DaretoWearLove Challenge #Africa #dtwl

Dare to Wear Love celebrates the work of Canada’s fashion community and performing artists. It also raises funds and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which puts money into grassroots organizations in Africa to fight the AIDS pandemic.

I’ve been taking part in the Dare to Wear Challenge, and with just one week left, I’m so close to my goal!

I’ve done the challenge twice before and even walked the runway.

To show you how amazing it was, I’ve attached a video from the last event. Don’t blink or you’ll miss me (1:50 into the video)!

I’m proud to continue supporting this worthy fundraiser, and I hope you will too. Find out how you can get tickets to the show here.

If you’d like to support me, you can donate by going to this linkNo amount is too small, and every dollar is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your support.

Support Fashion and Fight Aids with @DaretoWearLove #Africa

Dare to Wear Love celebrates the work of Canada’s fashion community and performing artists. It also raises funds and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which puts money into grassroots organizations in Africa to fight the AIDS pandemic.

From today until April 15th, I’ll be raising money for the Dare to Wear Challenge by embracing my Canadian style and wearing Canadian.

I’ve done the challenge twice before and even won a chance to walk the runway! I’m proud to continue supporting this worthy fundraiser, which concludes with the Dare to Wear Love Gala on May 12, 2017. At this prestigious event, Canada’s top fashion designers create one-of-a-kind ensembles from six yards of African fabric. These designs are modelled at the gala by supermodels, dancers, musicians, and other celebrities, as well as winners of the Dare to Wear Love Challenge.

Find out how you can get tickets to the show here.

Below are a few pictures from previous years when I did the challenge. If you’d like to support this incredible cause and potentially win an opportunity to walk the runway, take the challenge!

If, instead, you’d like to donate to my efforts, I’d be SO grateful! You’ll also discover my real name when you do. 😉

You can donate by going to this link. No amount is too small, and every dollar is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your support.

I Walked the @DaretoWearLove Runway to HAPPY by @Pharrell

dtwl 5The Dare to Wear Love Gala and fashion show took place at the Ritz Carlton Friday, Mar. 28th, and what a night it was!

Many thanks to Susan Dicks for her creation of my beautiful dress.

Deepest thanks to Jim Searle and Chris Tyrell of HOAX Couture, creators of Dare to Wear Love.

Here are 25 pictures from the evening’s show, but there are hundreds more! Find them on all the Dare to Wear Love sites.

The evening was beautiful, fun, filled with love, and most importantly, celebrated the talents and commitment to social justice of Canada’s fashion design community and artists.

By raising funds and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, we were all able to USE THE POWER OF FASHION FOR GOOD!

I had the pleasure of walking the catwalk to the song, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Hope you enjoy!

I’m Walking the Runway for @DaretoWearLove #fashion #aids #dtwl

Last month, I participated in the Dare to Wear Challenge to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. With your help, I raised over $1000! In total, the participants collected over $19,000 toward turning the tide of HIV & AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

♥  Thank you so much for your generosity.

The Dare to Wear Love event culminates in a gala evening with dinner and a fashion show March 28th. This year, I was chosen to walk the runway, along with three of my fellow Dare to Wear Challengers!

Give it up for:

Janet Solberg

Danielle Brown

Ilse Kloosterman

We will each be wearing original designs by the incredible Susan Dicks. She, along with other amazing Canadian designers are donating their talents for the show.

I Dare to Wear Love to benefit AIDS research for @daretowearlove

dtwl 2014 challenge

Love is in the air.

It’s Valentine’s Day and I’m participating for the second year in a row in the Dare to Wear Love Challenge to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

My challenge is to wear Canadian from today until the 21st, and post pictures of what I wear on my social networks.

The money I raise supports the inspiring transformation in sub-Saharan Africa to turn the tide of HIV & AIDS.

I set my initial goal at a modest $500, but with the help of some generous donors, I reached 80% of it in one day! Since I have one more week to raise money, I’ve doubled my target to $1000.

Why not? It’s for a wonderful cause, and I like stretch goals. 😉

If you want to donate, visit my fundraising page or the icon on the upper left of my blog. You can see my progress from there too.

passportAs always, thank you so much for your generosity.

If you are unable to donate, sharing about this cause would be greatly appreciated.

Follow me on Facebook and Twitter to see me wear Canadian until Feb 21st.

In the meantime, here’s a picture of me with something uniquely Canadian.
