Inside the Author’s Mind – Carolyn Arnold

Carolyn Arnold is an impressive author who writes in multiple genres. In addition to her newest release ELEVEN, which is available TODAY, she has a huge line-up of books scheduled for launch.

How does she do this? I figured she must be incredibly diligent and organized, and I was right. Her website is certainly a testament to how meticulous she is.

I’m thrilled to post this interview on the release day of ELEVEN. Please enjoy the gut-wrenching video, and welcome author, Carolyn Arnold.

ELEVEN is released TODAY!

Carolyn Arnold is the author of several novels in the mystery, thriller and suspense genres.  TIES THAT BIND, the first in a police procedural mystery series surrounding Detective Madison Knight, was her debut novel and published May 2011.

Carolyn was born in 1976 in the rural town of Picton, Ontario.  While her passion for writing dates back to her teen years, it wasn’t until 2008 that she completed her first novel.  She lives with her husband and her two beagles in Southwestern Ontario.

TIES THAT BIND availalbe on Amazon and  Smashwords

ELEVEN available on Amazon

Inside Carolyn Arnold’s Mind

What is your idea of perfect happiness?  The first thing that comes to mind is family, health and prosperity.  Prosperity doesn’t necessarily have equate to wealth but just enough to live comfortably on.

What turns you on creatively?  Murder LOL Okay, that sounds so wrong, but I love watching crime dramas and love reading them.  Although the more I write them, the easier it’s getting to figure them out whodunit.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?  Could.  Just.

What quality do you most admire in a man?  The ability to listen.  And trust me, ladies they are out there.  My husband listens better than I do as my attention span is short.

What quality do you most admire in a woman?  Strength.  Women have a lot to offer the world – they’re intelligent and beautiful – add strength and we’re a tri-factor 😉

What is your greatest regret?  Very tough question.  These are personal! LOL  I’d have to say rebelling when I was a teenager and hurting my younger sister in the process.  It was a long road but I’m glad to say it’s finally behind us.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I’d be a size ten while being able to eat as much pizza and drink as much wine as I wanted. LOL  Yes, I realize that is a fantasy world as the three elements rarely coexist.  Therefore, I suppose I really wouldn’t change anything.  We all need to accept ourselves for who we are.

What is your greatest fear?  Losing my husband.

Which living person do you most admire?  My husband.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?  Homicide detective or forensic investigator.

If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be?  Well I don’t believe in that, so I can’t really answer this question.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?  Publishing my first novel – TIES THAT BIND.

My greatest supporter is my husband, second to that my fellow writers I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and connect with online.  With that said the majority of my family doesn’t agree with my genre.  Family to me is very important so there’s been some rough times there, but that’s probably just another reason I’m proud of the fact I went ahead and did it!

What is the trait you most deplore in others?  People who are two-faced.

What is your greatest extravagance?  I love wine, and even if the budget’s tight in a certain week, there is always money for it.

If we’re taking a huge extravagance it would be going to the city to see a Broadway show, or two or three.  I also love to order room service when I stay at a hotel.

What is one thing you want to do before you die?  I would love to go to Australia and Italy.  And when I say Australia I’m referring to spending at least a month on the outback like a native, not in some fancy hotel.  (I’d have to see that to believe it of course given the fact I don’t like roughin’ it and I hate spiders!)

What is your present state of mind?  Determined.

What are some of your favorite curse words?  Oh, I don’t swear. LOL.  Are we allowed to spell it out on this site?  I say “Frick” a lot.

What is your motto?  It can be done, and it will be – perfectly.  Yes…I’m a tad OCD perfectionist.

Carolyn, I do believe you’re the first author I’ve interviewed who doesn’t curse, but “Frick” is perfect!

Readers, please offer your best wishes on Carolyn’s release today and pick up your copy of ELEVEN!
