I first met Tonya on Twitter and discovered she had a wicked sense of humor. I knew she would be an entertaining interview, and I was not disappointed as you will find out from her responses here. She is as vivacious as she is honest.

Inside Tonya Kinzer’s Mind
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Is there such a state? I suppose, for me, having the world know that is revolves around me and what I want to happen…happens! *wicked laugh* If you read between lines, you’ll notice I’m probably a bit of a control freak and that things need to go as I plan them and WHEN. In my world…I CAN control all…at least until hubby lovingly reminds me that the world does NOT revolve around me and things aren’t always going to go my way, but he still loves me! Isn’t he a sweetheart? But inside….*another wicked laugh*….I KNOW I can make things happen my way. Have I gone too far?
What turns you on creatively? A new story idea or character who pops into my head and makes me grab pen and paper right then and there! I could be watching TV, reading the paper or a book, or people-watching, which I do quite often.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Hhhmmm… I say ‘whatever’ too often…usually when somebody disagrees with me! Ha! Oh, and probably the phrase “I’m fine”.
What quality do you most admire in a man? When he pays attention to the woman he’s with and doesn’t let his eyes stray to women around them. He makes her feel like she’s the most important person to him at that moment.
What quality do you most admire in a woman? A woman with high self-esteem carries herself totally different than a woman who doesn’t. More women need to understand that if they don’t love themselves for who they are, no one else can either. It’s a frame of mind that is so evident in a person, but I especially admire that in a woman, which is why I also carry that trait to the women in my books. Am I getting too deep here?
What is your greatest regret? I don’t waste time dwelling on the past. It just bogs a person down and disables them from moving forward.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Probably to exercise more often than I do because I’m at the computer about sixteen hours a day; I feel better and have more energy when I exercise.
What is your greatest fear? That would have to be my fear of spiders, any size, but have you seen those Cat spiders up close and personal, smack in the middle of their wheel webs? Ewww! I know they have good web technique, but I like mine better!
Hehe, Tonya, Eden here, I just had to pipe in and say I love spiders! 😉
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Maybe an architect – then I could build worlds for real and not just with words!
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? I would probably be a winning race horse…I hate to be behind, I hate to follow, and I hate losing…in a nutshell!
What do you consider your greatest achievement? My children and that they’ve grown up to realize how hard it is to be a parent and why we did the things we did while raising them. They get it now that they have children of their own. The light bulb does go on!
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Whining! Is that a trait? I’m a firm believer in positive thinking and the Law of Attraction! If one whines about how bad things are and they concentrate so hard on that, then that’s what is returned to them. Duh! Wake up, people! I’m not saying that bad things won’t ever happen, but when they do, if you’re a positive person, it helps lessen the bad shit and how we perceive it.
What is your greatest extravagance? That might have to be my vehicles…and I don’t drive a fancy car. I’ve always been fortunate enough not to drive a car that’s older than five years old. When it hits that age, I start getting antsy because then shit starts nickel and diming me and I hate that…quit breaking down. I guess it comes down to my patience level….it’s pretty much zero tolerance for several things now that I think about it! *wicked laugh* Hubby says I’m just spoiled…I disagree!
What is one thing you want to do before you die? Hit the NYT Best Seller list! I’ve finally seen my books in print and on the shelf…now I want to go higher.
What is your present state of mind? My mind is pretty much in a whirlwind state all the time. I work too much, I don’t slow down, I never stop and I don’t rest like I should. That might explain the break down in my body because it couldn’t possibly be that I’m getting older, *gasp* damnit! Cause I’m NOT! *laughing*
What are some of your favorite curse words? I swear a lot…especially when things don’t go my way! ‘Son-of-a-bitch’ is a favorite and probably ‘fuck’…I’m in good company though! Surprisingly, it’s easier for me to speak those words than to write them, is that weird or what?
What is your motto? ‘We attract what we think!’ I read ‘The Law of Attraction and Money’ several years ago and thumb through it every so often when I feel myself getting down in the dumps. I so believe that we attract what we think and pull good karma in our direction. Doors open to us for a reason, but we also have to know when to grab those opportunities and not be afraid to move forward into the unknown! Make things happen for yourself and open up your life.
When you look around at groups of people, those who have money hang with others who have money; those who think positive are friends with other like-minded people. Look around at those who are depressed and down in the dumps and whine all the time – those around them are depressed and whiners….it’s partly because they are attracting what they think as well as who they have in their lives (other depressed, down-in-the-dumps people).
Change your mind-set for thirty to sixty days, then look back to see if your life has changed in a good way…did new doors open for you in those thirty to sixty days? Did you grab those opportunities or did you let them go by? Okay, I’m off on a tangent, sorry! I just feel that strongly about being positive and surrounding yourself with positive people. Depression is a morale buster! Smile and love who you are! Okay, I’m finished!
