In Spring into Summer, a collection of emotionally-charged erotic novellas, four women explore their limits, marked by love, lust, and loss.

Life for Claire Pelletier is changed forever when she meets a professor who teaches her a most important lesson in “A Season for Everything.” Evelyn Sutton goes in search of a man in “Unlocking the Mystery” and discovers the key to her own heart. With an open mind, Ava Connors attends a party but wonders if reality can ever live up to her hottest fantasies in “Summer Solstice.” In “The Lottery,” Sierra Zhao sacrifices herself to numerous men to help a friend, fully aware of the consequences.

With locations in London, Dublin, Cape Cod, and Bangkok, these four women will seek pleasure to alter their lives and push their boundaries.

“… I can’t begin to tell you how much the first story “A Season for Everything” touched me. It was so poignant and passionate that it stayed with me throughout the entire book … The love between Claire and Stephen was just so real and I felt it in every part of me. I mean, it truly was the best story in my eyes. I read it three times because I just couldn’t let it go. Call me a sap, because this story was wonderful…” ~ Diantha Jones of Masquerade Crew

**

“… I was absolutely blown away by the 50 year romance … in “Unlocking the Mystery” with simply letters. Heck, they didn’t even progress to e-mail as the letters were still on paper in 2010 and 2011. Theirs was truly a deep, committed love to continue with writing these letters, some extremely erotic. Also, the woman who delivers the last letter, Evelyn, even gets a reward of her own…or at least it appears that way. And no, not sex…something even better. ~ L Smith, Top Amazon Reviewer

**

“Though sex and sexuality were themes in the previous two stories, they were not as prevalent as they are in this story (Summer Solstice) which boils to the brim with passion, lust and desire. This story is not for the faint of heart … with its heavier emphasis on Erotica and erotic themes…” ~ Wyatt McIntyre

**

“…’The Lottery’ takes an exotic, slightly dangerous turn as a woman explores her need to experience life outside the constraints of normalcy, opening up opportunities for friendship, understanding and even love…” ~ Beach Bum Books

A story close to my heart

“The Lottery” closes out my anthology and takes place in beautiful Thailand amid the hustle and bustle of Walking Street, Pattaya—a mile-long tourist area lined with massage parlors, go-go bars, and nightclubs.

It’s the perfect setting for a young Asian woman and a savvy Dutch nightclub owner. Sierra and Theo have an unusual business arrangement. Depending on the outcome of their experiment, it will either be a huge success, or it will leave Sierra vulnerable to numerous men.

Of the four stories in this book, this one is closest to my heart and brings back wonderful memories of friendships formed long ago.

The Storyline

“Summer Solstice” is the third story in my book and kicks off summer — my favorite season.

The story is about Ava Connors, a woman who’s suffered heartbreak and turned inward. She copes with her disillusionment of men by having fantasies with her many ‘toys.’

Now …  I’m a fan of toys, so this part of the story was nicely researched. It was hard work, but someone had to do it. ;)

Also included in this story are hot pagan rituals.  I enjoyed learning about sexy Pagans as they pertained to Summer Solstice, and I hope you will as well.

The Inspiration

“Unlocking the Mystery” was inspired by the art of letter-writing and my love for words. Part of it takes place in Ireland, where I had the great fortune of traveling throughout and meeting wonderful, friendly people.

“… My favorite story was “Unlocking the Mystery.” This was an unexpected tale of how a woman rediscovers love through a box filled with love letters written between Caroline Kent, the previous owner of her newly purchased home, and Shane Murphy, a man living in Ireland. The letters span Caroline and Shane’s 50-year long-distance love affair and range from sweet to incredibly sensual. As Evelyn, the new home owner, makes her way through the box of letters she also slowly discovers that they unlock the key to her heart. ~ Reese Ryan

***

” … ‘Unlocking the Mystery’ is a deeply sensual, powerfully romantic story-within-a-story, a tale of two lovers who never met, who share such passion that it transcends time and distance, and a woman convinced she will tread life’s path alone until the mystery of a woman she never met and a legacy she cannot deny transports her to a destiny she could never imagine. This was perhaps one of the best short romantic fictions I’ve read in a very long time. It touched my heart in ways I cannot explain and gave my soul wings.” ~ Beach Bum Books

WIN a copy of Spring into Summer ~ Story 1: A Season for Everything

Each Wednesday this month, starting today, I’ll highlight a story from Spring into Summer, the companion piece to my first book, Fall into Winter.

It’s comprised of four distinct novellas; two take place in the spring and two in the summer.

I’ll also give away a FREE book each week. Four chances to win! Find out how at the end of this post.

Now, let’s learn more about the first story in the book.

A Season For Everything

The Inspiration

My love of poetry has connected me to some amazing poets, and their words have seeped into my subconscious. “A Season For Everything” was heavily influenced by my affection for poets, older men, and important life lessons I’ve learned.

An Excerpt

Flipping the pages of the book, I chuckled when I realized I’d picked up one of the many iterations of the Kama Sutra, widely regarded as the most famous work on erotic pleasure ever created. I blushed as I stared at the pages of explicit sexual positions, each beautifully illustrated with stunning color photographs and step-by-step instructions.

“Are you learning anything?” said a deep voice near me. I slammed the book shut like a teen-aged boy caught with his first dirty magazine. Slowly, I turned around to stare into the dark brown eyes of the man behind me. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” he said and smiled; tiny crow’s feet only made him more alluring.

“I was just flipping pages.” I felt more heat rush to my cheeks and hoped to god I was not turning beet red. I slid the book back into its place on the shelf.

“My name’s Stephen Taylor. Brenda said we should meet.” He held out his hand but couldn’t even extend his arm fully as he stood too close to me. I took a step back until my body hit the bookshelf and I could move no farther.

“I’m Claire—Claire Pelletier.”

“Nice to meet you Claire,” he said. “You don’t have a drink. Would you like me to get you one?”

“No, that’s fine.” I cleared my throat. “I haven’t eaten a thing today. I’ll get one later.” I noticed he didn’t have a drink either.

“That’s a good idea. There’s a line-up for the wine, but I’ll push my way in if you want me to.” Laugh lines creased the corners of his full lips.

“Thanks, that won’t be necessary,” I said, my eyes downcast. “Are all English men so chivalrous?”

He threw his head back and laughed. “I don’t know about that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some pushed in line for a drink.”

I snickered, feeling more at ease. “Brenda told me you’re a professor?”

“I am, but I’m currently on leave.”

“I see.” I didn’t want to be forward, but my curiosity got the better of me. “What subject do you teach?”

“English Literature and Poetry—18th Century Romanticism.”

“Hmm … ” I bit my lower lip. “Of course you would.”

Back from New York City with a 6th Avenue Heartache

This old song from The Wallflowers expresses my melancholy mood.

Less than a week after returning home from New York, my heart still aches for the city. I REALLY didn’t want to leave. Even as the plane sat on the tarmac bound for Toronto, I wanted to rush the cockpit and tell the pilot to let me out.

It’s hard to believe the pulse of a city can beat at the same rate as my heart, but that’s how it feels. I’ve been to NYC numerous times, even lived there for a year in the late nineties, and it never feels right to leave.  Maybe one day I’ll return for good and make it my home. I know if I were there today, I’d be in lockdown with the impending storm—stuck—unable to fly out. Damn … I’ve got to plan better next time.

To friends and family on the east coast of the U.S. and Canada in the path of Hurricane Sandy—I’m keeping you in my thoughts.

Here were some of the favorite moments of my trip.

* * * *

I finally met acclaimed American poet, Steven Marty Grant. I’ve devoured his poetry for the past couple of years and have begged him for personalized copies of his book, Another Hotel Room. Receiving his signed books was truly a highlight of my trip. He’s an amazing poet and an even more amazing person. I’m so looking forward to his next collection Chasing Moriarty releasing later this year.

Connect to Steven on his blog and on Twitter @stevenmgrant.

Mine, mine, mine, ALL MINE! Okay, I’ll give you a copy if you’re nice to me.

* * * *

I blogged about the the wonderful Mike Geffner in a recent post. His series, The Inspired Word is a great event for any city but especially for New York. There are so many talented people who are not afraid to express themselves, and I’ve already connected to many of them just by attending the event once. Further to the Monday night open mic session, Mike even asked me to help judge a comedy slam later that week. So much fun!

Find Mike on Twitter @InspiredWordNYC  and Facebook.

Be sure to connect to Mike and The Inspired Word when in NYC.

* * * *

Jim Campilongo, a regular act at The Living Room Monday nights was the next stop after my open mic session, but I almost didn’t get in. The doorman asked for ID, which I  didn’t have. The only thing I had to offer was my newly printed business card. I said, “You know I must be of age if I write erotica.”

He stared at my card and said, “You’ve got to be kidding.” He was a big guy. He looked mean, not easy to persuade.

“How do I know you’re not just a horny teenager?” he asked.

“Ha,” I replied. “Horny teenagers would have nothing to write about.”

I dug in my heels for a battle of words, but then something incredible happened. He revealed he also writes erotic literature. What?! That’s New York for you, nobody is just doing a job—everyone has other aspirations.  He asked, “Do you have anything I can read?” Considering I’d just come from reading my book,  I gave him my copy. I knew my book was worth something but never thought I could use it to get into a NY club. ;)

After watching Jim’s fabulous show, I spoke with the doorman whose name is Mark K. He’d already read my first story, and we had a discussion about writing and have been in touch since. He sent me a piece of his work for an opinion, and the man can write—really well, in fact. I couldn’t be happier to connect to him in this serendipitous way.

So, if you’re in NYC on a Monday night, drop by The Living Room and say ‘hi’ to Mark, bring some ID, and don’t miss Jim Campilongo. He’s an amazing guitarist with a smokin’ hot band. Connect to him on Twitter @JimCampilongo.

Catch The Campoilongo Quartet at The Living Room each Monday night.

* * * *

I gained major poundage during my ten days in the city, and it’s mainly due to a great Italian eatery in Hell’s Kitchen called Stecchino. The service was friendly, the food amazing, and they had FREE WIFI. I’m still dreaming about their garlic, rosemary fries, and I don’t even like potatoes! Connect to them on Twitter @StecchinoNYC.

Great food, warm atmosphere, and wonderful service – Go!

* * * *

Bryant Park is one of many beautiful open spaces in the city. On a bright day, I soaked up the sun on a park bench and a stranger tried to pick me up. I love the men in this city—they’re fearless. What was great about the incident was our exchange sparked a poem, which I will share in a collection later this year. Poems don’t come easily to me, so I take inspiration whenever it hits.

The poem is called “A Loose Leaf” like this one that fell in my hair while in NY.

I was actually in the area to meet NYU professor and Forbes writer, David Vinjamuri. I’d interviewed him recently, and we exchanged writing tips and talked marketing strategy. Of course, he was just as nice in person as he is online. He also gave me some excellent promotion advice, which I’ll put into practice shortly.

Connect to him on Twitter @dvinjamuri.

David writes both fiction and non-fiction. Find him out on Amazon.

* * * *

I reconnected with a wonderful couple whom I met while in Barbados last year. Linda and Bob are vibrant New Yorkers who introduced me to an area completely new to me—The Seaport. We had a great dinner, met new friends, and capped off the evening at one of their favorite haunts – Nelson Blue, fully decorated for Halloween.

Great place for friends to reunite. Thanks Linda and Bob!

It was also this area where I returned to the next day in a final quest for boots. I love wearing boots in the fall and had ruined my favorite pair several months ago. As luck would have it, I found them! I also learned you don’t pay tax for individual clothing items under $110, so of course I had to pick up a few more things. It only makes sense, right?

I saved money by buying more than one pair. That’s my story & I’m sticking to it.

Until next time, New York. I can’t wait to come back.

Stay safe, everyone.

I Took Part in ~ Mike Geffner Presents @InspiredWordNYC

When in NYC, I always do something different. It’s a crazy town, and I’m open to trying new things. Last night, I tried something new.

I’m no longer an open mic virgin, and I can say I’ve stood on a stage in NYC. Well … it wasn’t actually a stage, but that’s a good thing. I tend to be clumsy and would’ve probably fallen off.

Acclaimed poet and friend, Steven Marty Grant connected me to Mike Geffner and The Inspired Word when he learned I was looking for places to read while in New York.

Not even a cold, rainy evening kept the crowd away. Along with poets, comedians, and performance artists, I read a passage from my second book, Spring into Summer. It was scary but the audience was warm and gracious, and the experience a very good one for an introvert like me.

I’d highly encourage all artists to give The Inspired Word a try. It’s a gem of an event to have in a great city.

Thanks Mike, for your vision and for giving artists a forum to express themselves.

Readers, connect to Mike, follow him on Twitter and Facebook. Get to know this sweetheart of a man.

Three Reviews for Spring into Summer

Spring into Summer was reviewed by three excellent sites this past week.

 * * * *

Wendy Hines from Minding Spot said:

” … If you’ve been wanting to try erotica, but have been holding back for whatever reason, Eden Baylee is the place to start! “

Read the full review here and comment to win a copy of either of my books. Contest ends Oct. 18th.

Diantha Jones, a reviewer for the Masqerade Crew said:

” … Spring into Summer was a great read and I recommend it to romance lovers who aren’t afraid to let Baylee access their more raw side.”

Read the full review here.

From Niina C of For the Love of Reading Reviews, I received a two-star review. That doesn’t sound too good, but I believe an author should always want honesty when he/she asks for a review. Despite the low number of stars, Niina’s words impressed me. She said:

“I really wanted to like Spring into Summer, the blurb was beautiful and the stories seemed interesting at first glance. So why didn’t I like it? …”

Read my Interview w/ Close Encounters with the Night Kind

I answered some very interesting questions while in a dungeon sipping scotch. Nikki from Close Encounters with the Night Kind is not your typical host.  She has a thing for dark haired tattooed demons. ;)

I’m also giving away a FREE copy of Spring into Summer, so hop over and see how you can WIN!

I hope you get a chance to read my interview here.

Nikki also graciously reviewed my book and I love what she said. Read her review here.

Planning by the Seat of My Pants

Those who know me well, know I’m not much of a planner, but somehow I get things done … by the seat of my pants, so to speak.

Since the e-book release of Spring into Summer July 9th, I’ve been busy with marketing the book, writing over thirty unique guest blogs and participating in almost as many interviews.

Read the Thank You posts to see the wonderful people who’ve offered their support … so far.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5Part 6

As I continue writing and promoting, I wanted to take a breather and share some other news with you.

Spring into Summer Available in Print

The paperback is now available. The design of the cover and the interior is by the award-winning JB Graphics—who also did my first book. He does amazing work, and I LOVE it.

Check out his website, and connect to him on Twitter @JBGraphix.

I’d also like to extend my sincerest thanks to acclaimed poet Steven Marty Grant, author of Another Hotel Room who did me the honor of reviewing my book. His wonderful words can be found on the back cover, and you can read them here too.

Look for Steven’s new book, Chasing Moriarty coming soon, and connect to him on Twitter @StevenMGrant.

Fall into Winter re-published

I’ve republished the e-book of my first anthology, Fall into Winter. The main reason for doing this was to regain full control of the book, originally done by a third party.

The downside is I will lose all the reviews and “Likes” I’ve acquired to date on Amazon. As a temporary remedy, I’ve added the reviews to my blog here. Over time, I hope to get them reinstated to the new version of my book.

Feel free to like and tag me again on my Amazon page. It’s much appreciated. ;)

*** UPDATE Sept 25th ***  I found out from friend and author, David T. Lender that my reviews can be transferred from the old version to the new. WHEEE! That’s in the process of happening now. Thanks David!

The SECOND e-book edition of Fall into Winter can be purchased at:

Amazon US | Amazon UK  | Smashwords

I’m in the process of republishing the print version as well, however you can still buy it through specific sites listed here until further notice.

E-book of Flash Fiction and Poetry

This, yet to be titled collection, will be a compilation of stories and poems I’ve written for my blog, along with some new ones. I thought it’d be a good idea to offer them in an anthology to increase readership.

This e-book will be available by yearend.

New Website and Blog

I’ve been working with JB Graphics to create a new website. I haven’t made many changes to my site since its inception, and it’s time for a makeover.

Look for a reveal sometime later this year.

Upcoming Novel

I’m researching my new book right now, and it’s moving along—slowly but surely. It’s a mix of John Fowles/Charles Bukowski/Haruki Murakami and a dash of Pauline Réage thrown in for good measure. The full-length novel is a new animal for me since I’m used to writing short stories, so I’m feeling challenged—it’s a good thing.

As for a release date? 2013 is the goal, but don’t push me for anything more specific than that.

I’m  planning by the seat of my pants, remember? ;)

That’s all the news I have for now. I’ll update as I learn more.

Your comments—good, bad, or otherwise are always welcome, and thanks so much for the continued support.
