Inside the Author’s Mind – Brenda Woody and Steve Tindle

Today, I have the privilege of interviewing two writers at the same time. It’s never happened before on my blog, so I’m excited to share it with you. I even used different colors on my post to show them off! Double your fun and learn about the fabulous writing team of Brenda and Steve.

Not all of their stories have a happy ever after ending, but the sex scenes are hot! Brenda & Steve love to explore different writing styles in the Erotic genre. Inside Brenda’s and Steve’s Minds

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Steve: To me happiness is the lack of worry. Not worrying about book sells, bills, and scheduling of events gives me the greatest happiness.

Brenda: My idea of perfect happiness has been accomplished; being with Steve (I’ve had some really bad relationships) and being able to do what I have always dreamed of; write and work from home.

What turns you on creatively?

Steve: Talking to Brenda about a new story line. We discuss several ways the story can play out; some get really silly. Sometimes brainstorming can spur other stories to write.

Brenda: I love when an idea hits me and I have to immediately write it down. When the creative juices start flowing, sometimes I’ll end up with 4 to 8 pages of notes.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Steve: I tell Brenda “Bed Time” even a couple of hours after we get up. I don’t use it because I want to sleep but to put the idea in her head. It lets her know I’m thinking about what’s to come later. I also say “Mine” because what’s hers is “Mine”. Her coffee taste better than mine.

Brenda: Ummm, I love when he says “Bed Time”. But for me, I say “I’m fixin to” a lot. This stems from my southern upbringing. But I really am “fixin’ to” do something!

What quality do you most admire in a man?

Steve: Dependability. If you tell me you are going to do this or that, I expect it to be done in a timely manner.

Brenda: Honesty. I don’t tolerate lying. I also admire a man that cares about how he presents himself out in public. Nothing wrong with shorts or sweats, but comb the hair and brush the teeth please.

What quality do you most admire in a woman?

Steve: Dependability still rates high on the list, but if you are talking physical quality, let’s just say I’ve never been a breast man, except with chicken. I’m a kitty man. Show me your girls and I won’t shy away but to get my attention, show me your kitty fur.

Brenda: Steve does like my small breast though. I just wear a bra to be polite! The quality in a woman; I would have to say honesty as well. I raised my kids to always tell the truth. If I found out later they lied, they would be in much more trouble.

What is your greatest regret?

Steve: Not flirting with Brenda in high school. It took me 30 years to finally talk to her.

Brenda: That I didn’t flirt with Steve in high school. One day I followed him out of class into the hall. He leaned against the wall while I stood in front of him. I thought he was shy. I should have slipped him my number or showed him my kitty fur! LOL No wait, I would have failed HS. Steve was in most of my classes.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Steve: Have more patience with people. I tend to get upset with slow people, crowds, and people I have to repeat things to several times.

Brenda: Nothing. I’m very happy with me and my life.

What is your greatest fear?

Steve: I don’t have an overwhelming fear. My greatest concern is saying or doing something to cause me to lose Brenda. She is my life.

Brenda: Heights and spiders. Oh, that’s two things. And to share; Steve’s answer brought tears to my eyes. He’s a keeper!!!

Which living person do you most admire?

Steve: I don’t have one living person I admire more than others. I weigh each person on their own merits. Whether it’s an author with high sells or Brenda’s Mom and Pops; there are always things to admire about people.

Brenda: Well, you Eden (and I ain’t brown nosing here!) I read your tweets, your newsletter and your blog….ok I lurk there; don’t always comment. You’re so nice, thoughtful, funny and very organized. I have never met you in person, but I can tell these things about you on how you present yourself online. To tell you the truth….I’ve been waiting for you to invite us on your blog. I know, I could have just asked right? I’m honored you asked us first.

eden: *blushing* Thanks Brenda. I’m happy to have you and Steve here finally ;)

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Steve: Well, we have talked about opening a café bookstore. But Brenda would have me create an Excel spreadsheet to track orders, schedules, supplies, and bills; so I guess it’s still would be what I do now.

Brenda: LOL Yes, I would because I’m anal about organization! Another dream of mine is to own a bookstore. I could sleep there!

If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be?

Steve: Saltwater. Think about it. I could travel 3/4 of the globe for free, be in the depths of the sea, and surround beautiful bodies with the waves.

Brenda: Okay, to play on Steve’s answer, a Blue Tang fish. Then I could swim around inside Steve. I say this because when we go to bed we cuddle and talk. My favorite spot is to lay my head on his shoulder and sometimes I just want to crawl inside him. I think the readers know what I’m talking about.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Steve: Of course every parent will say their children. I would also add Best Lover in Town. It is our first book, and not perfect, but it brought Brenda closer to me. We wrote it while we were in different time zones. It kept us talking about everything for months before we finally met back up after 30 years. Writing the book, we learned more about each other than if we were in the same town and dating.

Brenda: To finally grow some balls and show a story I wrote to someone (Steve) and having him believe in me and my dreams. We have written five books in two years. While working at jobs outside of the home and writing the first two, we accomplished my first dream – to be published. Another achievement is creating and co-owning A Naughty Reader’s Boudoir with Tonya Kinzer.  I’m finally using my marketing/advertising degree by providing promotional services to fellow authors. Steve and I have another pen name, Louise James. We are writing Sacred Murder the first book in our Marci Perez series. Under Louise James, we co-own An Avid Reader’s Haven with Deanna Jewel. Haven provides same promotional services as Naughty.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Steve: Wasting my time. I enjoy my alone time with Brenda. When we decide to go out with friends and they show up late or have friends over and they stay too long, it takes away from my Brenda time. Actually I’m a homebody. I really rather stay home and our naked time. Did I mention I deplore clothes?

Brenda: I deplore whiny people. I’m strong minded and very independent. We all have ups and downs in life. But for someone to whine and be ‘woe is me’ all the time, I’ll walk away and will not further a friendship with this type of person.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Steve:The 65 inch TV Brenda and I bought together for Christmas our first year together. Although our TV cost more, I still love my king size waterbed with all the mirrors and canopy. Lots of our stories come from time in this bed.

Brenda: Yea, our huge ass TV. But hey, it’s paid off! Pssst…I love the mirrors above our bed.

What is one thing you want to do before you die?

Steve:Travel. I would love to travel back to Europe. Brenda and I have a Paris book in notes and would like to get first hand research.

Brenda: I’ll just tell everyone. We have Best Lover in Paris in notes. Steve was born in Paris so it would be nice to visit there. I want to go to Ireland and Scotland where my ancestry is from.

What is your favorite music (genre/artist/album/song)?

Steve: My kids say I’m stuck in the 70′s and 80′s. I like to hear Ted Nugent, Boston, Bon Jovi, and all the old classics of rock.

Brenda: I listen to a lot of different types of music, but my favorite is Heavy Metal/Alternative. Give me System of the Down, Chevelle, Seether and Slipknot any day.

What are some of your favorite curse words?

Steve: I don’t curse that often. If you are talking about dirty words I say “pussy” a lot; even when talking about my daughter’s cat.

Brenda: Steve’s right! LOL I curse more than he does. I can have a potty mouth but only when at home. I say Fuck a lot…….I’m fixin’ to fuck a lot. Bedtime!

What is your motto?

Steve:“Tickle Time!!” I’m not ticklish, but Brenda is. I love to hear her laugh and squirm. Not to mention what it does to her “down below”.  LOL

Brenda: I have two mottos: “Shit happens, pick yourself up and move on!” and “Swallow Don’t Spit. If you can’t handle it you shouldn’t have your mouth on it!”

Steve and Brenda: Eden, thank you for inviting us to chat and introducing us to your readers!

You’re most welcome, and thank you both for being SO entertaining.  I think it’s a fantastic accomplishment for you to write together!

I invite everyone to leave a comment for this charming couple.
